Principally through monitoring in wildlife and desk based studies, Lee investigates the effect of the magnitude and duration of exposure on the accumulation and toxicological consequences of contaminants. Interspecies differences in these processes are also studied as an intrinsic function of toxicity.
Lee's main role within UKCEH is as the principal investigator for the Predatory Bird Monitoring Scheme. As part of this role, he leads on production of high quality publications — both refereed articles and contract reports — quantifying spatial-temporal variation in the accumulation of contaminants in wildlife and the consequences of that exposure both to individuals and populations. This work contributes to national and international monitoring programmes and projects.
