Professional summary
Dr Marsailidh Twigg is an atmospheric scientist at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. She has over 20 years’ experience in studying the surface-atmosphere exchange processes of trace gases and aerosols. She has expertise on long term monitoring of atmospheric pollutants with a focus on reactive nitrogen compounds and particulate matter. Her expertise includes the development and application of wet chemistry methods for the study of atmospheric composition of trace gases and aerosols, as well as the development of flux measurement techniques to improve process understanding of surface-atmosphere exchange of reactive N compounds. At UKCEH, Marsailidh is the air quality lead at the Auchencorth Moss Atmospheric Observatory.
Marsailidh has an interest in public engagement in research, specifically using citizen science approaches with low-cost sensors to quantify the impact of air quality has on human health.
She is a member of the scientific advisory group on total atmospheric deposition for the Global Atmospheric Watch at the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO GAW) and a member of the chemistry working group for the NERC FAAM facility.
