Paddy has experience of a broad array of methods used in nutrient analyses in environmental samples from surface waters, ground waters, atmospheric gases, agricultural run-off and soils. In addition to lab-based instrumentation he has experience of a number of instruments used for in-situ analyses and monitoring of a range of nutrients and water quality parameters.
He is trained in a number of techniques used in microbiology and molecular biology. Paddy's specialist areas are; methods for nutrient analyses including ion chromatography, combustion and colourimetry for both waters and soils; instrument maintenance and troubleshooting; laboratory and sample management systems; in-situ instrumentation for nutrient analyses; culturing and population counts of E. coli in environmental samples; and, techniques used for DNA manipulation, and; genotoxicology.
