Case study: India-UK Water Centre: Collaboration on Water Security Research
The India-UK Water Centre was a virtual joint venture set up by UKCEH and partners to promote cooperation and collaboration in water security research between the UK and India. Between 2016 and 2020, the Centre provided a platform for partnership and dialogue between Indian and UK water researchers, water policy makers and water businesses.
The Centre supported a range of activities which brought together users, stakeholders and researchers across sectors in order to develop cross-disciplinary partnerships, and foster knowledge exchange and capacity building. Activities were focused around five key cross-sectoral themes:
- Developing hydro-climate services to support water security
- Building cross-sectoral collaborations to understand the water-energy-food nexus
- Using new scientific knowledge to set objectives for freshwater management
- Improving freshwater monitoring frameworks and data management
- Transforming science into catchment management solutions.
