Professional summary
Bronwen obtained a B.Sc. in Science and the Environment from De Montfort University in 1996. Her studies included a placement year with the RSPB and Wildlife Trusts where she focused her studies agricultural practices and the environment. Bronwen continued with this theme pursuing her further education at Bangor University in 1997 completing an M.Sc. in World Animal Production.
In 1998 Bronwen joined UKCEH (formally the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology) where she has had a varied career, starting out as a field scientist, moving into informatics in 2003 prior to taking a lead role in science programme management. She has managed the Welsh Government funded Environment and Rural Affairs Monitoring & Modelling Programme — ERAMMP — since 2012. ERAMMP is a 20-year programme that delivers national natural resources monitoring and modelling to inform and develop policy and provides evidence for a range of national and international reporting requirements.
In 2021, Bronwen became the Catchment to Coast Group Leader. Her group activities cover a diverse range of areas from soil function to catchment management including those across the land-sea interface, coastal ecology and restoration and national scale monitoring and modelling for Wales and GB.
Bronwen became Head of Site of UKCEH Bangor in January 2022. The office houses over 65 scientists in the Environment Centre Wales.
