Professional summary

Maddalena is a data scientist working for the Atmospheric Chemistry and Effects department at UKCEH. Currently she contributes to the development and management of some of the department's web tools and datasets. Her interests lie in understanding the causes and the effects of climate change on natural, social, and economic systems.

Maddalena has a BSc in Water Management (Ecotechnology) and a MSc in Climate Studies. During her studies she was trained in statistics and modelling future environmental scenarios using R, Python, GIS, Excel and various other stand-alone models and programs, such as Panoply, PCLake, PHREEQC and VisualMINTEQ.

Maddalena acquired research experience prior to officially joining UKCEH when she carried out two research internships at Wetsus — European centre of excellence for sustainable water technology — and UKCEH itself. Currently, she is gaining experience with Unix operating systems, Git, MobaXterm, and Jasmin, a data intensive supercomputer.
