Professional summary
Semeena is originally an Air Pollution Scientist who now works in land-atmospheric research and is trained as a global and regional air pollution modeller. She works as a project manager on iLEAPS, a Global Research Project of Future Earth that provides understanding of how interacting physical, chemical and biological processes transport and transform energy and matter through the land-atmosphere interface, as well as on Integrating Finance and Biodiversity for a Nature Positive Future (IFB-NPF), and IndiaZooRisk (IZR), OPTICK, TickSolve.
Semeena has been involved in international climate modelling projects including: SWIFT — using satellite data to develop nowcasting tools using land surface temperature anomaly and precipitation data; UKCP18, a UK based climate change projection scenario data using Hydro-JULES for impact modellers; PORCELAIN — PORtrayal of ChinesE Land-Atmosphere Interactions, that is developing diagnostic tools for the study of Probability of occurrences of hot extremes and the predictability of such events in East Asia; and, VERA, Vegetation Effects on Rainfall in West Africa, studies the impact of Land Use changes in Climate over Africa.
