Professional summary
Professor Stefan Reis is a UKCEH Fellow and a scientist at DLR PT, the Project Management Agency at the German Aerospace Centre. Stefan was head of UKCEH's Atmospheric Chemistry and Effects science area until March 2023, heading our research into improving our understanding and quantifying the interactions between the biosphere and the atmosphere based on measurements, experiments and modelling of greenhouse gases, reactive air pollutants, water and energy.
His research interests focus on the integrated modelling and assessment of impacts of air pollution and climate change on human health and ecosystems. This includes approaches for improving the integration of models and environmental sensors, as well as the development and application of conceptual models to link and integrate human and ecosystem health impact assessment.
In 2016, Stefan was awarded a fellowship by the International Society for Environmental Modelling & Software Systems (iEMSs). He is an editor of Environmental Modelling & Software and a member of the editorial board of the journal Environmental Research Letters (ERL). Stefan is a fellow of the Modelling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand (MSSANZ) since 2018 and the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA). Since 2020, Stefan has the privilege of serving as President of iEMSs.
Since 2012, Stefan has been a member of the NERC Peer Review College. In 2021, he was appointed as a member of the NERC Science Committee.
