Professional summary
Nicholas is responsible for the commercialisation of research from the National Environment Research Council (NERC) science institutes to industry. This includes winning funding, project evaluation, innovation pipeline, prototyping, spin-out management and collaborations with SMEs, licensing of intellectual property, patent management and trademarking.
He has experience in innovation leadership and management, knowledge exchange and technology transfer, as well as commercialization, project management, negotiation and brokering. Nicholas has worked as a UKCEH partnership manager to the Centre for Global Eco-innovation at the University of Lancaster and as a Board member of Oxford Expressions Technology, a NERC spin-out company.
Nicholas has more than 25 years’ experience in many aspects of sustainable development work across the private, public and voluntary sectors. He has previously worked as an Innovation Manager at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, as Commercialisation Manager for NERC, as a Principal Consultant for Sustainable Development: Building Research Establishment and as a Business Innovation Manager at the University of East Anglia.
