The UKCEH site is located in the village of Crowmarsh Gifford, on the opposite bank of the river Thames from the historic market town of Wallingford.
Wallingford is a focal point for world-leading scientific research into climate change, biodiversity, water, agriculture and environment, home to the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology, the Environment Agency, HR Wallingford, CABI and other organisations. It is adjacent to the Science Vale which contains two of the UK’s leading big-science research centres at Culham and Harwell and is strategically located midway between the M4, M40 and Oxford.
For more details about Wallingford, the Wallingford Town Council website is a useful source of information on the local area.
